Rec.net Update: Gift Cards & Store Credit are Back
Following updates to our payment processor, you can now use gift cards and store credit for purchases.
June 2025 Update:Gift Cards & Store Credit Can Now Be Used for PurchasesGift card and store credit purchases are back for players in the U.S.! You can now use the store credit at checkout to purchase token bundles or a 1-month, non-renewing RR+ subscription. Longer subscription options are coming soon. Thank you for your patience as we worked through the transition to a new payment system.Please note that each purchase must be fully covered by your available store credit balance at the time of checkout. Split payments are not supported. For more information on how to use store credit, please visit our help center articleComing soon: We are working on new functionality that will let you convert leftover store credit into Tokens, which you can use for in-game purchases such as avatar items, consumables, and more. We’ll share more details on how this will work and when it will be available in the coming weeks.  We know this was a long wait, and we appreciate your patience and support. At this time, Rec Room Plus subscriptions are available for 1-month plans, with longer-term options coming soon.Gift card & store credit usage is still temporarily unavailableWe know many of you have been waiting to use your gift card balances and store credit. This part of the payment system is a bit more complex to restore as it involves additional technical implementation. Our team is actively working on it with our new payment processor.  We expect to bring this functionality back in the coming weeks. We will update you here as soon as we can.Your gift card and store credit balances are safe and secure. You can still redeem gift cards and the value will be stored in your account for use once full functionality is back.Thank you for bearing with us. Mar 21, 2025We are actively working to replace our payment processor so gift card funds can be used. This involves finding the right partner, doing our due diligence, and then agreeing on implementation and contract details. Unfortunately, this takes time. Once we sign with a new processor, our estimate is that it will take a month to replace the old system with the new one.Why can't gift card funds be used now?You can redeem your gift cards. But, when you use a gift card to purchase something, we have to calculate sales tax on your purchase and remit the tax to the correct state. We need a payment processor to help us do this.For now, you can redeem your gift cards and store the value with us. Your gift card funds are safe and secure. As soon as we have a new processor in place, we'll update here and you'll be able to use your gift cards again. We know it's frustrating not being able to use your gift card funds in this moment, so we appreciate your patience and understanding.

This is a temporary hold and we will update here when your store credit becomes fully accessible again.Rec.Net PurchasesAll purchases through https://rec.net/shop are temporarily halted.Gift Card RedemptionGift cards you already have or purchase are still redeemable on rec.net. The store credit will be held until we have completed our change in payment processor. RR+ SubscriptionsSubscription renewals to Rec Room Plus through Rec.net will be halted, but you’ll keep the perks for as long as the subscription would have been active. To avoid a lapse in benefits, you can renew your subscription to Rec Room Plus through another platform and not be affected. When our new payment processor is up and running, you’ll be able to manage subscriptions and auto-renewals on rec.net again.Why right now?Our payment processor, Digital River, informed us that they are ceasing operations effective immediately on Friday. This didn’t give us any time to perform a smooth transition. We are currently working to find a replacement. In the interim, know that your tokens and gift card balances are safe. These changes do not affect purchases on other platforms or our creator payouts. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.
