The Roomie Short Video Contest has officially ended! Thank you all so much for participating and showing off your roomies! Here are the winners for each category!
What’s the Theme?Roomie, your new AI robot buddy, is ready for the spotlight! For this short video contest, we’re mixing things up. This contest is designed to be faster and simpler than previous video contests. Roomie must appear in every video submitted, but beyond that, the creative direction is up to you! We welcome polished, scripted videos as always - but we’re also happy to see simpler gameplay clips and less-polished content. This is all about celebrating Roomie and embracing the wide range of characters and interactions our new robot friend can inspire. Since Roomie can primarily interact with its owner, we felt that a Short Video contest with categories geared towards simpler, bite-sized content makes sense. (One thing that won’t be bite-sized is the token prizes, though - more on that below!)
Categories & PrizesWe’re looking for winners in three fun categories, as judged by an internal panel of Rec Room Staff:Funniest Roomie Video
- Make us laugh - simple as that!
- Get creative with Roomie and come up with innovative ways to use custom instructions. (You must show the instructions in the video to qualify)
- A grumpy cowboy? A surfer-bro vampire? Create a Roomie persona that leaves a lasting impression!
Each category will have three winners:
- 1st Place: 500,000 Tokens + Roomie Short Video Contest Hoodie
- 2nd Place: 250,000 Tokens + Roomie Short Video Contest Hoodie
- 3rd Place: 100,000 Tokens + Roomie Short Video Contest Hoodie

Submission Requirements
- Videos must be between 15 seconds and 2 minutes long.
- Roomie must appear clearly in every video.
- All videos must be new creations made on or after 7/7/2025
- You must post your video publicly on YouTube Shorts, TikTok, or Instagram Reels.
- You must put your Rec Room username (and your team members’ if submitting as a team) in the post copy/video description
- Every post must include the hashtags: #RecRoom and #RoomieContest
- Each Rec Room player may submit up to 4 unique entries per category
- Duplicate submissions will be disqualified
- Submit your video through the official submission form below!
Contest Rules & Content Guidelines
- All footage must be filmed by you inside Rec Room or IRL.
- All videos must follow the Rec Room Code of Conduct and Creator Code of Conduct.
- You may use old clips, but the final result must be a new creative work.
- All music and external media must be properly credited in the video description and/or audio fields.
- Use of strong language must be censored. Mild language (e.g. “hell,” “damn”) is fine.
- If a submission violates our rules or policies, it may be disqualified.

Out of Roomie energy? Submit a pitch to the Roomie Shorts Production Fund!Roomie has real-world costs that we need to cover. Still, we want to provide a way for as many players as possible to join in the fun of this contest. So, we’ve created the Roomie Shorts Production Fund to support creators who want to participate in the contest but don’t have Roomie Energy. With the max team size of 4, the fund can support 1500+ participants. From 7/7 to 7/13, submit a short video pitch using the form linked below. In your pitch, briefly describe your video idea & how you’ll use Roomie, the category you’re submitting for, and list any teammates you’ll be working with. Rec Room staff will review these pitches as they come in, and on 7/14, selected pitches will be awarded 5000 Roomie Energy to bring their vision to life during the remaining contest week (7/14–7/20).Important Notes:
- Each player is eligible for only one grant from the Roomie Shorts Production Fund. Multiple submissions will be disqualified.
- The fund is open to all players. You do not need a RR+ or Roomie Max sub.
- Any unused Roomie Energy from the fund will be recalled at the close of the submission window on 7/20 at 11:59pm Pacific Time.
- Apply ASAP - the fund is limited, and when it’s gone, it’s gone.
